Shanna Doherty is a photographer with a creative flair and artistic eye. Her passion for photography started in the ’80s in high school where she would create make-shift studios and had fashion photoshoots with friends. In the early ’90s, she majored in photography at Maine College of Art. At that time she started her own freelance photography business assisting a wide range of clientele. She has photographed weddings, portraits, and events for over 29 years. The process in which Shanna shoots is youthful, using traditional and journalist styles. Displaying details is crucial to portraying the feeling of the event or person to the viewer. Shanna’s mediums include digital and film utilizing themed environments orchestrated with the use of filters and props to create different layers for perception. Her images vitalize humor, playfulness, and spontaneity. Her friends and acquaintances inspire her portraits. In recent years her focus has been more on events, promotional and portrait photography and does not photograph weddings anymore. She still has a love for the 120 film square format and uses fun plastic cameras like the Diana F+ and Holga when she is not working.
